The shortcuts die exactly where you need them.
Most streaming sites bury their video inside a cross-origin iframe — an embedded player served from a different domain. Ordinary video extensions stop at that boundary: their shortcuts go dead exactly on the sites where you need them most. Smart Video Controls runs inside the embedded player itself, so skip, speed, volume, and resume work everywhere.
Four things, done properly.
Keyboard shortcuts on every player
Skip, speed, volume, fullscreen — with on-screen feedback, and fully remappable. They work inside embedded players, not just native ones.
Position memory
Pause mid-episode, close the tab, come back days later — the video resumes where you left off, keyed to the page you were watching, not the player’s throwaway embed URL.
Time saved, counted
The popup shows how much watching time your skips and auto-resumes have saved you, all-time. The number in the hero is every user’s total, combined — see the live dashboard.
Cross-device sync
Signed in to Chrome with sync on? Your positions already follow you to your other Chrome devices, free. Pro adds sync that doesn’t depend on a Chrome account — work profile to personal, Chrome to Edge — carried over HTTPS by our own backend.
Everything remappable from the popup.
| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
| Space | Play / Pause |
| →← | Skip forward / back 10s |
| ⌥→⌥← | Skip forward / back 30s |
| ↑↓ | Volume up / down |
| >< | Speed up / down |
| F | Fullscreen |
| 0–9 | Jump to 0%–90% of the video |
Every shortcut is remappable from the extension popup. YouTube and other sites with good native controls are left alone by default.
Privacy-first by construction.
Positions live on your device, and the only thing the extension reports is anonymous daily usage counts (with an opt-out in the popup) — never URLs, titles, or page content. Read the full privacy policy.
